How I entered college an Agnostic Liberal and left a Conservative Christian

The following is an account of my SoCal college experiences…

During my first semester, I took a Political Science class and scored “flaming Liberal” on the entrance exam (I scored further left than anyone in the entire class). I also took a bunch of Sociology, Psychology, Science and Multi-cultural classes. In these subjects I was routinely told about the evils of America, Republicans and Christians. I was enlightened in my science classes about how God does not exist. I was informed that men are pigs (except possibly the progressive, sensitive, compliant ones that were bi-products of the feminist movement). I remember giggling in agreement when my professors talked about how archaic and ignorant Christians were and nodding in unison when they described how greedy and arrogant Republicans were. I would then bring this “superior intellectual knowledge” home to my high-school-sweetheart-turned-hubby Charlie, in hopes that I could sway him from his Conservative Christian views (oh yeah, our household was a barrel of monkeys during this time period). Charlie would ask me questions like, “Don’t you wonder why they aren’t offering counter points? What are they afraid of? What are they hiding?” I remember him so logically and lovingly providing the balance that my professors deprived me of. However, like so many naïve young college kids, I thought “how could my instructors, with all of their education and degrees, be wrong?” Class after class, semester after semester, I heard the same old stuff. But little by little, it didn’t feel so great to bob my head in unison. In fact, I secretly became ashamed. Even though I was a goody-two-shoes obsessed with my 4.0, I had always been somewhat of a rebel at heart. In jr. high and high school I was drawn to the “different” kids (for me it was the brainiac/skater/sci-fi/punk crowd). I really admired those that did not blindly follow the crowd, were willing to take a stand, stick-up for the underdog, etc. Suddenly, here I was in college, and somehow I had become part of the mass mob majority. I grew more and more skeptical, I began to see the importance of Charlie’s questions, and I wanted answers.

Really long story short… you can only be spoon fed a one-sided story for so long before (hopefully) you begin to question its validity. Out of my respect and admiration for my hubby, my need for balance, my love for the underdogs, etc. I started to do my own research. It is interesting, amazing, and life-altering the information that can be found outside of college. You might be familiar with some of my findings like: I learned that scientific theories (the ones trying to remove God) actually contradict with scientific laws – weird that my Science teachers never disclosed that FACT (for more lefty myths, see my blog: Lies from the Land of the Left). Anyway, some of you know my story from there… I am now a Conservative Christian living in SoCal – a REBEL once again! Woohoo! And… (just in case you didn’t know)… Ann Coulter and Jesus rock!!!

I realize that this was my personal experience. And, to be fair, the types of classes I took might partly explain why my professors were so biased: my BA major was in Liberal Arts (fyi: liberal meaning “the seven branches of medieval education”, not “Michael Moore”) with a minor in Sociology and my MA was in Education and Multicultural studies. As a side note, I do want to give a shout-out to my Calculus teacher and most of my grad school professors at Chapman University (private school, hellooo) for remaining fairly balanced – I now realize how truly courageous they were. I am now a public school teacher myself and I understand the enormous responsibility that comes with my profession. I know how students can blindly believe what they are told, so I must be as fair and balanced as possible. In my opinion, a lot of our kids are having a Liberal agenda shoved down their throats, and they are buying it hook, line and sinker. Unfortunately, I do not think my story is unique.

As usual, I agree with the Malkinator. The Main Stream Media worship & lavish praise over Barack Hussein Obama is getting so sicky sweet, I’m starting to get nauseous. It has just come out that last fall, a Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner dashed a foster teen’s hopes of early enlistment for Marine sniper duty, plus a potential $10,000 signing bonus.

In denying the Royal High School student delayed entry into the Marine Corps, Children’s Court Commissioner Marilyn Mackel reportedly told Sage and a recruiter that she didn’t approve of the Iraq war, didn’t trust recruiters and didn’t support the military.

“The judge said she didn’t support the Iraq war for any reason why we’re over there,” said Marine recruiter Sgt. Guillermo Medrano of the Simi Valley USMC recruiting office.

“She just said all recruiters were the same - that they `all tap dance and tell me what I want to hear.’ She said she didn’t want him to fight in it.”

As you can see, the Berkelesque psychosis extends far higher than many people realize. It’s more that pariahs in pink shirts, it’s people with the power to decide the fate of others who are now attacking our marines. This judge should be removed from the bench, because clearly she lacks “sound judgment”.

If anyone doubts that our government is starting to become radicalized & unconstitutional after reading this story, then I’m sorry, you’re probably as crazy as Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Marilyn Mackel.

After reading what she’s done here, & the fascism of it, one has to wonder if the rock singer Marylin Manson’s name wasn’t inspired by California moonbat judge Marylin Mackel. I’ve said it time & time again. What these crazies can’t legislate, they’re attempting to litigate, & sometimes they win. They are warring against our own military now to the highest levels of government, & it has to stop.

Helen Thomas quote:

“What I really worry about is that I think the bloggers and everyone, everyone with a laptop thinks they’re journalists,” Thomas said. “And, they certainly don’t have our standards. They don’t have our ethics, and so forth. There’s a deterioration,” she continued. “Reporters laid down on the job in the run up to this [the Iraq] war.”

Thomas made those remarks in a January 4 round-table discussion that followed the premiere of a documentary about the National Press Club 100th anniversary, “The National Press Club at 100: A Century of Headlines.”

As a blogger who readily admits I’m not a part of the “Journalism” profession, I’m very glad I’m not. To be a part of that largely corrupt group of so called “Professionals” known as the Main Stream Media, would be to sell my soul to the devil, for a guaranteed opportunity to force my opinions into virtually every home in America, & call it “reporting the news.”

What I am is an American citizen with a voice, who is exercising my first amendment rights out of concern for my country. I know that frightens the status quo media folks who have turned the news into information brokering, a way of controlling, brainwashing, & ultimately fleecing the masses in our country by endorsing those with whom they are politically aligned. But like anyone with a conscience & a soul that still belongs to God & themselves, I want no part of that.

The difference between bloggers & the main stream media of course, is that no blogger I’ve ever read has ever claimed to be “Your only source for News & Events”. On the contrary, we tend to link to competitors who may have differing opinion, because we believe in a system of checks & balances, as well as actual free speech & information sharing, not the kind of “information sifting & filtering” that’s become the norm for the old guard that Helen Thomas helped to create.

Helen Thomas & her kind are afraid of bloggers, because we represent something her “profession” as a whole lost sight of many decades ago now, & that is the ultimate higher calling of the media. It is to serve their fellow man by providing the information needed to make life decisions, (often in reaction to the information provided) based on wisdom & knowledge that we are all taught in school, or acquire through spiritual wisdom & provenial grace.

We don’t need the media to make up our minds for us, or arbitrarily filter the information to us that they feel is relevant, or in their opinion “important”, but yet somehow the media has made themselves the gatekeepers of all common sense & relevance. The “news” they “allow” us to see or here is “the gospel according to their editors”, instead of a word for word, or pictured chronicle of events.

To Helen Thomas; The problem your industry has is that the general public is tired of your narrow opinions about “why” news happens, & would just like you to spend more time reporting it without always needing to have an analysis or opinion, as if without you, no man or woman could make up his or own mind, & would fail to understand it. You are gatherers & disseminators of information, you are not Gods, Kings, or Queens who issue their judgments & decrees upon the rest of us.

In short Helen Thomas, you may not see me as a “journalist” with your “ethics” & “standards”, but who in hell are you to pontificate at your very readers & customers what is a good product?

I bring my car to have the oil changed not because I can’t do it myself, but because I want to spend my time doing other things. However if I can’t find a shop to do it right? I’ll do it myself again. I’ll go find out what the right Oil filter part number is for my vehicle, & buy the parts myself, & do the work myself. Similarly, when YOUR customers Helen Thomas don’t think you’re doing a good or honest service for us, WE WILL get it done with or without you, & YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE MY LAPTOP OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS BEFORE YOU STOP ME from ideating (EITHER ALONE OR WITH OTHERS) on how to make or keep the country I Love a better place. If that goes against your “journalism standards”, then DON’T READ MY BLOG YOU OLD MINDED,UNPROGRESSIVE, SELF ABSORBED COOT! How ironic that those who have the most incentive to champion the first amendment, are using it to try & suppress the free speech of others selectively.

You know, I’m a Christian too, & I believe in forgiveness, second chances, ect..

However, if I hire a baby sitter & then catch that baby sitter beating my four year old while I’m away? After I choke them a little, call the cops, & prosecute them, THEN I forgive them.

I DON’T HOWEVER LET THEM BABY SIT EVER AGAIN!

The most recent Rasmussen Reports poll of Iowa Republicans shows Mike Huckabee leading the pack of GOP candidates.
Huckabee leads Romney, 38 percent to 22 percent, among those who call themselves born-again Christians, a group making up half of likely caucus goers. Romney received more support than Huckabee from that demographic in October, but now these Christian mice are following the Huckabee Piper into the river to be drowned. Why?

I think Christians in our country have forgotten that our savior is Jesus, & he’s promised to return with a bit more of a spectacle than Mr. Huckabee is capable of producing, so why are Christians letting this pseudo conservative lead them to the slaughter? I mean seriously, wake up people! He’s NOT A CONSERVATIVE!

Does this sound like a conservative to you people?

Translation: “I want to appease the French,the Soviets, & for the love of man, that scary little guy who runs Iran (whatever his name is, Ahmadineenabad or whatever) because he’s working on some scary nukes, & I don’t want to upset him… Oh, & then there’s those really effective UN folks that we need to be more co-operative with, you know.. We’ll do more & more sanctions, every time they bomb us. I mean I know that’s never worked in the past, but I have God on my side, because I’m an ordained minister..”

Come ON PEOPLE! It’s ridiculous! Do you really think just by virtue of being a “praying man” that this guy should have the job of leader of the free world? Well faith without works is dead, & so far this guys works have “liberal” written all over them!

Here’s a link to some of Huckabee’s many & ever flip flopping positions.. I strongly suggest that Christians take the time to read up on the guy who’s asking for the job of leading our nation, just like you’d interview a pastor carefully to lead your church.
