Only in nanny states like Massachusetts, or California do you regularly hear about stories like this.

Raynham father warns Market Basket shoppers of ‘predator’ employee he says groped his 4-year-old son

A father says he was horrified to find out that a janitor accused of groping his son in a bathroom stall at Market Basket is still working there.

RAYNHAM, MA — One Raynham father is taking justice into his own hands, warning other parents this week about an alleged “predator” who he says groped his 4-year-old son in a supermarket bathroom last month.

Police said the suspect, an elderly janitor at Market Basket, allegedly reached under a bathroom stall partition and touched the boy’s calf while the child was standing on a bucket June 1.

The boy’s enraged father, who police said saw it happen, allegedly flung open the adjacent stall and punched the janitor, giving him a cut on his lip and a welt on the middle of his head.

The employee, Valerio Rodriguez, 71, of Providence, allegedly told police through a translator “that he was wrong for touching the little boy.”

Although Rodriguez faces a felony charge, the father, Jason R. Beatrice, 31, was reportedly horrified to see him still cleaning floors at Market Basket when he visited the store July 4.

“He was pushing a mop bucket smiling at children,” reads an anonymous flier, which police said Beatrice authored and distributed in Raynham.

Obviously this was a self defense action by the father, who was neutralizing a threat against his child. The Police have handled it poorly in my opinion. Here is the e-mail I sent to them.

Dear Chief Lou Pachecho,

I feel that you made the wrong decision on the Beatrice vs. Rodriguez case. Was Mr. Beatrice supposed to wait until this man got his hand into the child’s pants damaging him even more than he has already been emotionally? Or pulled him into the stall? This was a clear case of self defense, & neutralizing a threat to his child’s safety. I respectfully encourage you to drop the charges. ~Dan Lee

Michelle Malkin has a great piece on this here.

There’s also an excellent article here on this. It has complete contact info should you want to share your thoughts with the officials in Massachusetts. The Police have a difficult job, so I encourage you to be polite.

NO! NO! and finally, NO!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

A Texas man who was the beneficiary of a plea bargain after soliciting sex from a policeman whom he thought was a 15 year old girl, now wants to run for Mayor of his city. Yeah, I believe in forgiveness & second chances in some cases, under some circumstances. But am I going to give the keys to the city to a man who’s already violated the trust of a community on one of the deepest levels possible? NO!

Am I going to give him a job whereby with his power he could contribute to shaping policy regarding the punishments or living arrangements of other sex offenders? NO!

Does he deserve to be involved in the decision making & policy making process when it comes to creating & implementing child safety policies in any municipality, after what he did? NO!

If James Brian Sliter thinks his attitude of entitlement is coming across as repentant, he would be wrong. In this video, you will notice that he pontificates to the rest of us that we “need to be this” & we “need to be that”, need to do this & that, & what we think of him is apparently in his mind, up to him & not us.

Sorry Mister.. If you ask me, your arrogance & lack of humility is likely how you ended up in this predicament.
In your video taped appeal you talk about what “YOU” need, but not about what your community needs. Offender status notwithstanding, I don’t think you’d be a good mayor because you’re so self absorbed. I’ll be praying for you that you get your head straight, & take your focus off of yourself. Only then will you be a true asset to God & your community.
